On the 1st, my boss/bro-in-law came over and helped me cut some wood up. A lake effect storm was predicted, but never showed up. Well, not at my house - I guess it was a different story 50 miles to the south. Can you believe it - Buffalo, the Blizzard Capital of the East, has no snow on January 1st!
I saw 2
After my back couldn't take any more hefting of logs, I changed the cat boxes, cleaned up and settled in to watch a couple rental movies - 'Cowboys vs Aliens' and the newest Pirates. I was very disappointed in CvA. Oh, Harrison, how could you stoop so low? I really wanted a Predator to come in and clean up the messy plot. The aliens reminded me of the ones from 'Independence Day'.
Thank primus that Pirates delivered...kind of, anyway. Outrageous escape scenes annoyed me. I loved the mermaids! Was also disappointed that we never saw what happened to the preacher after the mermaid took off with him. I missed Pintel and Ragetti. And Will. *drool* But, at least it took the bad taste of CvA out of my mouth.
Oh, and I saw a trailer for 'John Carter'. Ooh, I want to see that in the theater! I have a bunch of those books, written my ERB. It's been so long since I read them, I've forgotten a lot. I think I was put off by the slave girl stuff. I want to read them again, but now I'm dithering, wondering if I should read before the movie or after. Decisions, decisions.
And today was a day off, so I tried to clean up some in the basement. BOR-ING.
Since this whole post is getting boring, I will leave you with what I consider the best commercial I saw this year. The facial expressions on the guy are fantastic. Makes me laugh every time.

LOL! I agree; I feel like a lot of movies would be better with this addition.
I still haven't seen the new Sherlock Holmes, which is gnawing at me. Seen it? I hear mixed reviews, but mostly good ones.
I just wanted to say, in response to your last posting, that I am bothered by that massive debt your friend put upon you. I just cannot fathom how someone amasses so much on SOMEONE ELSE'S credit. You are/were generous to a fault!! I'm hoping that something comes about that allows her to pay you back quicker. The interest rate alone..... JFC. I feel for you, I really do. A good woman like you shouldn't have to go through such.
