I saw snow flurries today!
 I'm not ready!
I know, bitch, bitch, bitch. But, I ask 'ya - where did July go? I think I missed it.

Picked up the truck. Didn't damage my transmission, thank primus. A 4 foot section of the line had rusted and everything leaked out. Replaced with rubber hose. They discovered that my right front ball joint was going bad and would have to be replaced in 3-6 months. I said to get it done now. Oil change was due, so might as well get that out of the way since it was there. They couldn't find any reason for the gauge swinging over to hot. 98% sure that it was a faulty engine sensor, so I said get it replaced. I don't need the stress of thinking I'm overheating this winter when I'm stuck in a snowstorm.
Total damage - $739.
And in 2 weeks I have to get my snow tires put on.   My summer tires are now junk, so I must save around $700 for new ones this spring. Grr. Slagging vehicles are just money pits.
But, I love my truck.   ♥

Tuesday evening I went and took the NYS Pistol Permit course. Erie County is very strict, but I can't think that I'd have any problems getting approved. I wanted to say my reasons were 'personal protection', but after quizzing me, the instructor said that reason probably wouldn't fly. So I am asking for 'hunting and shooting', and then I can apply for the personal protection later. I am kind of excited. You can never have too many guns, IMO.
Now I need to find 4  suckers fools friends neighbors to give me references on the application saying that I won't go postal.

Took some metal to the scrapyard over the weekend. I got a little squee out of it.

I've been meaning to show you this for a long time.
This is what I have to live with every day at work.
In case you don't know -
I work for my sister and bro-in-law, who is a neurologist. We do have a small office the next town over, but we have very few regular patients and most of our income is from Independent Medical Exams and Record Reviews. Preparation of records and typing the report can be done anywhere, we only need the office when the examinee comes for the actual exam. We do most everything while at Mom's house. (I say 'Mom's house', but my sister is on the deed and is co-owner.) It is really a blessing, as someone has to watch Mom all the time now. Besides the point.
What I want to show you is my sister's $@^&-ing, @&*-damned, SLAGGING, NOISY umbrella cockatoo.
Turn your volume up to 11 to get the full effect.

Sometimes he goes on and on and on and on - for as long as 30 minutes.  Gives me a headache.
I hate that bird so slagging much.

...and his feet are just creepy.
[Can you believe I actually figured out how to upload this on youtube, and then to here?  I can hardly believe it myself.]

And last but not least, your silly picture for tonight.
Any resemblance to my actions after getting [another] gun is totally coincidental.

I DROVE for an hour in snow today ;_;

The rain changed to snow around Waverly, PA, and kept up until I was back in NY.

We got 6" of snow on Saturday. Did you have an accumulation?

I wonder if the bird is bored. Umbrella Cockatoos are incredibly smart and need a lot of stimulation. They enjoy being held and getting attention. Give him so extra toys. Keep that beak busy! As much as you hate him, interact with him as much as you can. What's worse- the noise or giving him what he may need?

BTW, I envy you. Because of my mental illness, I can't even go to a gun range to target shoot. I'd really enjoy that. Takes a lot of discipline. I do agree with the right to bear arms even though I'm a Democrat. I should be able to shoot any muthafudga that intends to do me harm!
