A smorgasbord of bitching

I. Is. Sick.
I hate it when I don't feel well, I'm such a baby.  I need someone to come and make me chicken soup.  All I have are Ramon noodles and it's not quite the same.
This started yesterday with a runny nose and just got worse.  My head feels like a watermelon stuffed with that butterscotch stuff that's inside sponge candy.  Ooh, that might not be so bad - I love sponge candy.  Hey, did you know that some candy stores sell just bags of sponge candy innards?  And it's cheap.  Bag of innards for $3.98.  Yum.

I hate tax season.  No, I lied.  I do enjoy doing taxes, but stress and having no time in the evenings get me down.  That's probably where I caught my cold - at the tax office.  I had been lax in spraying my desk, keyboard and phone with Lysol the past week.  Slag.  And I know spraying works, as I was faithful last year and didn't get sick at all.

It's been so cold here, -7 degrees last night.  I was tempted to sleep on the basement floor in front of the stove with the cats.  It's nice and toasty there.

Oh, and speaking of animals - my sister's dog bit me yesterday.  Bit me!  Damn dog.  And we're not talking a nip, either.  I wasn't even touching her, I had a hold of her coat (which she hates) and was waiting for her to stop growling so I could put it on.  She grabbed the coat and tugged, I tugged back and she bit my left arm.  I grabbed her neck, lifted her off the ground and gave a good shake.  She's a nasty dog and not trained very well, at all.  And today she was all suck-up to me, putting her paws on my leg and trying to lay next to me.  Yeah.  She knows I'm pissed at her.  Look at that bruise!  It's 2 inches long.  Poor me.  *sniff*

So, I haven't done anything around the house lately.  One of my kitchen lights went out, but I couldn't reach the ceiling without a ladder and I was too lazy to go out in the cold to get one out of the garage.  I still haven't called a plumber for my upstairs bathroom.  I need to make room for him to walk before I call.  Good luck with that.  And I have to work tomorrow night, and Wed and Thurs night.  Makes me tired just thinking about it.  But, if I feel lousy tomorrow, I'm going to call in sick.

No time yet to look at those downloaded comics a1057soul  sent me.  Although I did open each up just to make sure they were downloaded correctly.  Looks pretty cool, but I hope to read them this weekend.  I swear, Dan, I'll let you know what I think.  And I have to go through my inbox one of these days.

Did you know that the A.J.Wright stores are going out of business?  That makes me upset, as I bought a lot of toys and decent clothes there.  But their toys are 35% off the discount price.  Over the weekend I picked up the Shanghai Showdown set with Skids, Mudflap (in their ice cream modes) and Demolishor for $13, regular price was $30.  Not a bad deal.  But I am pretty happy because I didn't have a Demolishor previous to this.    [I still have to take a pic of that Predator figure I got a few weeks ago.  Plus - I found an Alien/Predator set at ToysRUs.  Very cool, will show pics maybe this weekend.}

They had a lot of the deluxe class ROTF toys, but nothing I didn't already have.  One of these days I will finish the shelves in my room....
I also bought some socks.  Not that you care, but I needed some.

Enough kvetching for now.  I've got to take some drugs and go to sleep.  Propped up on 3 pillows so I can breathe.  Joy.

Yes, it is even more purple today. Good thing it doesn't hurt.

Taxes are EASY! I really do enjoy doing them. They are oppressive, though.

Thanks, still sick today, hopefully I will feel better tom'r.

I hope your cold doesn't last long! -7 degrees?!! And NY is totally buried in snow, isn't it?

That's a pretty big bruise! Doggy's lucky she didn't spend the rest of the day outside o_O

Get a neti pot for your nose! They are fantastic and really clear your sinuses out!

I hope it's gone by the weekend.
It was 32 degrees today, what a heat wave! We're not buried in snow here in WNY.

%$#*@ dog.

Never did a neti pot - I've heard of them but sticking something up my nose grosses me out!

re: neti pot
Snot bad, I promise ^_~

*snugs* i really hope you get to feeling better soon. being is no fun any time, but being busy with other people's taxes does not make it better.

and ow! my sister would no longer have a dog if i had been bitten. would be Dead Dog. (unless, of course, i had been actively pissing it off. that's totally different.)

brr, -7. we had -11 the other night to go along with our snowstorm. not fun. if we had a nice wood burning stove like that somewhere in our house, my cot and bedroll would definitely have been set up beside it.

it's a shame that AJ Wright is going out of business. my ex-roommate loves shopping there. (or possibly her finace loves buying things for her there; either way they talk about it a lot.) that's an awesome price for that figure set, though. i can't decide if i like that color variant of Demolisher, though. (the jury has been out on that one since it came out last summer.)

Thanks, I hope tom'r will be better. Head still feels huge today.

The dog is ill-trained, and they are lucky it bit me and not a stranger who would sue them.

-11!! You win!
stove = wonderful warmth. It's such a big difference from forced hot air.

Demolishor's color isn't as nice as the one with the black tire, but at least I've got one now.

bah, we both know my -11 only wins for now. y'all are likely to get worse than that at some point this season. ;)

I pay for an accountant just so he has to have the headache, and not me. Well, that and he has the funniest email jokes. :D

YIPE that's one heck of a bruise!

Please stay warm and feel better!

He gets the headache of the work, while you have the stress of getting all the papers together.

I'm trying to get better, taking Ziacam and Advil and vitamins. I forgot how much it sucks to be sick.

Sorry you are so sick! Feel better soon. :-)

I remember when my Border Collie bit me. He had gotten ahold of something dangerous, and I had to get it out of his mouth. Bad idea! It looked like a damn shark bite for weeks. Still have scars from it. And, of course, he knew he did wrong. Sucked up for a couple of days afterwards.

Thanks. I wanted to comment on some of your stuff, but haven't gotten around to it. Did you check out that tarantula community?

Harley will drop stuff when I tell him to 'drop'. He's pretty well trained. Labs aren't generally biters, anyway. My sister's dog is a Basenji, and they are nasty, willful dogs.

Responding to your mail here.

Glad you liked your early Valentine! Generic TF always makes me laugh.

I joined the Tarantula group. It was nice to see posts with pics of others' "kids". I hope to have more someday. If I could find a nice, tame one like I had with Pussyfoot, I'd snatch him up in a second!

Never knew that about Basenjis. Will steer clear of the breed in the future. A friend of mine has Keyshonds- I fell in love with the breed through her boys.

Nasty bruise!

I definitely think the cats have got the right idea.

Here's hoping you get better quickly.

Cats are smarter than the average human! What a life they have, eat, sleep, snuggle. I'm jealous.

Thanks, I hope so, too.

I'm sorry you are sick. I'm afraid I can only offer you virtual chicken soup:

Holy carp, that bruise! O_O Too bad you can't punt that dog through the goalposts of life (not that I condone violence towards doggies, but sometimes it's cathartic to imagine it). :P

That is an awesome toy set! Good deal, too. Speaking of toys, Optimus arrived today! Thank you!!! :D Despite the dreary weather, he seems pretty happy to be here:

I think he's happy to be here

Get well soon and take care of yourself! *hugs*

(PS: gave Tater the bracelet and pencil, he was quite pleased!)

Actually, I had canned chicken soup for supper tonight.

Well, I shook that dog pretty hard. She's lucky I didn't punch her in the head.

Wow, that was a quick delivery! I sent something to England in Dec and she didn't get it until January.
Glad you and Tater were happy.

Mmmm, chicken soup! I love that stuff. Even when I'm not sick, it's a comforting thing to consume.

She had it coming. My mom had to shake our dog pretty hard once when she challenged her. Doggie got the point of who is in charge right quick!

Sometimes the pony express amazes me. I sent out things at the beginning of December, and some arrived at their USA destinations in less than a week, and some too six weeks. Guh. Stuff got Australia faster than that. o_O

*feeds soup* Get well soon!

That bruise looks awful. D:
Jan. 26th, 2011 12:33 am (UTC)
slurp, slurp. Thanks.

I'm milking that bruise for sympathy for all it's worth!

Ouch, poor you
I hope you'll feel better soon

Hope you're doing well.
