Nov. 29th, 2010

Man, oh man – stay away from your computer for a few days and your inbox explodes.

I hope everyone had a satisfactory Turkey Day. I did, surprisingly.
I tell ya, I’ve pretty much hated the holidays since Rick died. I haven’t decorated the house or had a tree in 10 years. Well, I think that’s going to change this year. For some reason, I feel Christmas-ey. I actually played a bunch of Christmas songs on Thanksgiving day.  Maybe I'll even go out in the woods and cut down a Charlie Brown tree to put outside on my deck.  I have no room inside and I'm afraid of what the cats would do.  Just what I don't need - Blue climbing up and knocking it over.

I’ve done a lot of shopping lately, and did score some good swag, as I went back to my comic store. Will post just a bit right now, as it’s late and I was busy cleaning all day.

I need to call the plumber (all I wanna say is it’s a good thing I have 2 bathrooms) and my car guys to switch to snow tires.
I also have a deer hanging in my garage that I have to butcher. My friend Tom had an extra (since I didn’t get my hunting license this year due to forgetfulness) so I said I’ll take it. It has been cold the past few days, but is supposed to warm up tomorrow and be around 50 degrees on Wed. So, I’ve got to start butchering after work tomorrow. Ooh, you guys are in for some exciting posts! Heehee. I’ve written about how to butcher in my Predator story, but I’m going to try to take pics and show how it’s done from the beginning. It’s a lot of work, and I am not looking forward to doing it by myself. But, nothing new there, I do lots of stuff by myself.
Oh, by the way, my plow truck is still dead, dead, dead. I think it’s the starter. Piss me off. I don’t want to waste money on Whitey – I wanted to sell her. I recall that someone told me that there were mechanics that made house calls. I’m gonna ask my regular mechanics if they know anyone. Too bad they’re so far away, or I’d just tow it with my other truck. Too depressing, I don’t want to think about it right now.
Onward to pics.

Found unmasked Berserker Predator at a Toys R Us.
What a face!

Here he is from the back - he's got great dreads.

And I just couldn't resist checking what he had under his loincloth.

Buns of steel.
Come on - don't make that face at me!  If they didn't want us to check, they wouldn't make the loin removable.

And, just in case you didn't know, McDonalds has TF toys in their happy meals.
Pretty decent figures, they are about 4 1/2 inches tall.  Prime is pretty cute.
I haven't gone into the store to see what is offered, but rumor has it, Starscream is one of them.

That's all for now.
More TF toys, maybe tomorrow.

Nice pred!

He is so cool.

Oh, Screamer BETTER be one of them! Funny story- BFF and I went in to McDonalds so I could get a Happy Meal and the toy. I got Megs, of course. I was playing with him, when I accidentally shot his weapon and nailed an older gentleman in the back of the head as he ate his fish sandwich! I apologized, we all laughed. 15 minutes later, a man nailed me in the back of the head with his son's Megatron toy weapon. Payback's a bitch. :-)

Sorry about your truck. I hope it can be dealt with without too much fuss.

I like your attitude for this holiday. I hope you'll show us how you decorate. I have a fondness for pathetic little trees. I like combing the tree lots to find one for cheap. Like I'm giving an unwanted orphan a home.

Have you seen episodes of Transformers: Prime? Bluestreak is being voiced by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Haven't been able to see much on YouTube because of my shitty internet connection, but it looks worth a chance.

McDonalds Megs-toy fight
LOL! It's really cold over here in the UK, not more than a couple of inches of snow on the ground, but as usual the country is grinding to a rather precarious halt, but this did make me laugh, and that made me feel warmer - temporarily!

Re: McDonalds Megs-toy fight
Cute! Glad I could provide some warmth!

I feel your chill. It's 15 degrees below normal here in Pennsylvania, USA right now. I had to give my pet rats a hot water bottle to stay warm!

Re: McDonalds Megs-toy fight
You Brits are such snow amateurs.
Come over here to the snow belts - we'll give you snow.

come on, you've got to stop assaulting little old men. You're gonna get arrested one of these days! heehee.

Truck post should follow today.

Actually I'm looking forward to finding a tree. Although, I might not get a Charlie Brown tree, we planted some spruce about 10 years ago and I might take one of them.

No cable to see TFPrime. I hope to get to a quick connection either tomorrow or Fri so I can watch it on youtube. I like 'The Rock'. And he's a pretty funny guy.

The first Christmas we had without our mother was...weird. I wavered between happy about the holiday and bitter that she couldn't be there. It got easier as the years went by, but the sadness never fully goes away.

I hope you are able to have a happy Christmas this year. I'll be thinking of you.

I've seen someone butcher a deer but that was ages ago. Gross, yes fascinating! Mmmm, venison...

Now if only our McD's got TF Happy Meal toys! O_O

You are right, sadness never goes, you just get used to dealing with it.

It may not be happy, exactly. But I won't be a Scrooge about it this year.

Well, you're in for a disgusting treat! teehee.

You have McDonalds over there?!
(just kidding)

I lean on my faith a lot. It helps. :)

Hey, we even have Pizza Hut, and just recently Domino's Pizza! LOL ;)

I love the buns of steel XD

Oh yeah, you bring that tree inside and the cats will be trying to get in it every chance they get. It's cute, but not so cute when you've had to pick the tree up off its side for the 11th time. Not to mention smashed ornaments.

I'm looking forward to the deer butchering pics. I've never even cleaned a fish, so it will be interesting!

Wish my buns looked as good. Well, I guess if they were plastic, they would, huh?

My old cat left the tree alone, but Blue has already proven that I can't trust him.

I am working on the pics. Deer is in the fridge awaiting more processing.

This is one of those self-sufficiency skills that probably everyone ought to know. We don't get much opportunity to do anything like hunting or butchering our own meat (I think the supermarkets have got it all stitched up nice & tight!), but I do remember my dad and his friends going out with shotguns and Dad bringing rabbits home for the pot, and I also remember him plucking chickens (maybe turkeys at Christmas as well) when I was a young 'un.

But don't you need to wear a wet suit to avoid (or quickly repair) getting covered in blood as you cut?

Sorry to hear about your truck. Sounds like it might be a bit difficult to get much done about it at present if you have snow there already. And that isn't good, especially if it's the starter motor, because vehicles can deteriorate quickly over a few cold months.

Hope you have a good heater in the other one. I've spent the last 3 or 4 winters in a car with no heater, and I was absolutely frozen most of the time. I'm really glad I bought Mandy Mazda, which does have a good heater.

Re: Butchering
Yeah, most people don't know anything about it - and they don't want to. The slaughtering industry is pretty gross. I am a lot more sanitary.

hahaha - Sorry, I had to laugh. I pictured myself in a rubber suit cutting up the deer. You know, the ones that sex stores sell for those rubber fetishes? (too sweaty for me)
There is very little blood left once the animal has been gutted. You'll see....

I should get a truck update up tonight. And there's no heater in Whitey, because mice made a nest in the defroster and when I turn it on, it makes a very scary WHIRRRR sound. I open the windows as I plow. Ace's heater is fine.

As weird as it sounds, BRING ON the butchering posts! I'd love to read them! (Actually, I'd really love to hork some of that delicious venison, but... ;_;)

I am surprised that apparently Predators wear tanga panties under their loincloths. I must don my war-tanga!

My cats have knocked over, climbed, eaten and otherwise mangled every tree I ever had. Ahhh holidays. I don't even bother any more, since it's just me. But I do put out my other holiday decorations! :D

Dec. 2nd, 2010 02:08 am (UTC)
I'm working on it.
Well, you drive up here and I'll give you some!

haha, I had to look up what a 'tanga' was. I, like a1057soul, thought it was a thong. War-thong sounds kinkier.

I'm glad I have a deck to put the tree on. You could always hang it from the ceiling. I see pictures in the newspapers all the time. If my ceiling wasn't an A-frame, I would consider it.

It's a THONG!

All the well-dressed hunters are wearing them!

It is kind of cute.

I would be HUGELY enthusiastic about deer-butchering posts! Bring it on, I say. Although thinking about it is making me crave venison. *sadface*

Glad to hear you're feeling Christmasy! I'm not quite there yet, but I think that's always my favorite part of the holiday.
Dec. 2nd, 2010 02:11 am (UTC)
I'm working on bringing!
I have a lot of pictures to go through, and I have to grind the burger and stuff in between.
Venison = yummy stuff (if processed and cooked correctly).

Play some Christmas music - I think that's what did it for me.
