Masterpiece Grimlock & Baby Bird Update

I found Masterpiece Grimlock at ToysRUs the other day.
He is an AWESOME figure!     8 3/4" tall.
He's got a lot of articulation and detail.  Quite the cool prize.

I almost didn't get him, not because I was hesitant, but because someone else saw him first.

Here's my story - and I'm sticking to it.
When I go to ToysRUs, I usually go straight to the action figure aisles.  They have three of them, and Transformers are in the center aisle.  I like to do browse in an orderly fashion, so as not to miss anything.  Aisle 1, then  2, then 3.  (Which reminds me, I also picked up the Berserker Predator, Generations Cybertronian Bee and Prime, Drift, Hot Wheels '09 Corvette Stingray Concept and '71 Dodge Charger [my fav car of all time], and picked up and put back the Falconer Predator [which I now regret.])

While in Aisle 1, I heard some guy talking to his kid, asking her which TF she wanted  [Henceforth known as Carlos, because he told me his name].   I quickly scooted over there, lest they buy my stuff.  Well, I was too late, he is already holding Grim in his hands, while the kid - a little girl about 6 - is pawing over some figures on the lower shelf.  Amazingly, shy me started a conversation, oohing and ah-ing over his find, secretly cursing him to the lower depths of the pits of the Unmaker.  We talked about the 25th anniversary figures, Perceptor, The Insecticons, and Optimus with the battle station and Roller.  I was slightly mollified that he was jealous I had all 3, especially OP.

But one thing led to another, and he gave me 3 leads on where I could find old TF's being sold at 2 of the flea markets in the area and a comic book store.  Apparently, you have to go to the store only on Saturday afternoons and give a code word or something to get to the secret back room (just kidding about the code word, not kidding about the secret back room).  And you have to specially request the TF's at one of the market's stalls, because they are on consignment and the stall owner doesn't care if they get sold or not.  They are hidden on a back shelf somewhere.  But, rumor has it, there is an old Megatron and Soundwave - mint in the box!  I hope to get out there this weekend.
But, back to my story.

I'm trying to look at the hanging figures as I talk to this guy, and I notice ANOTHER Grim on the shelf, kind of behind some TFA boxes.  My heart starts to pound, and I try to keep up my end of the conversation as I inch over.  BUT!!!
All of a sudden, another guy comes up [henceforth known as Unicron the Bastard] the back of the aisle and swoops in to grab Grim, like Laserbeak grabbing Starscream in that one episode!  Carlos notices the other Grim and exclaims that he didn't see him and asks if Unicron the Bastard is going to buy him.  Carlos says if he had seen the second Grim, he would have bought both, one for him and one for his daughter to play with!  Sacrilege!  I am seething inside.  Unicron the Bastard says it's a cool figure, and he's not sure if he will buy Grim or not.  He has to call his wife (loser!), but if he doesn't buy him, Carlos can have Grim.  Aargh!  I am consoling myself with the thought of calling the other ToysRUs store to see if they have Grim over there.

Anywho, Unicron the Pussywhipped leaves for a bit to check in with the little woman and Carlos and I talk about the video game and new TV series.  Unicron comes back and hands Grim to Carlos, saying he can't justify buying Grim right now.  Crying inside, I hug my Predator, Bee and Prime to my chest and start to inch my way out of the aisle.  Carlos exclaims, "I can't believe I'm buying 2 of these!"  I say, "Yeah, well, I think you should give one of those to me."
And you know what?
He did!
So everything turned out fine for me.

So I pulled Grim out of the box and took some pics.  He's got a little gold crown!
It belongs on his mech form, but I put it on his T-Rex mode.  Total cuteness!

He's saying, "You.  There.  Bring me, Grimlock King energon!"

I am afraid to transform him into mech mode.  I really don't think I would be able to put him back.  I mean, the instructions say, 'Ages 5+'  and I have tried to put a couple TF's back to vehicle mode, and failed miserably.   Too hard for this old lady.  I think I'm gonna keep him in this mode for a while.

Now for the birdie story.
Look at my babies!  This pic was taken during lunch.  I was afraid to get too close as they can see me now and when I hold the camera up, they scrunch down and try to hide.  I don't want to scare them out of the nest, so I was about 3 feet away as I took the shot.

They actually look like birds and are crowded into the small nest.
But - someone's missing!

Oh noes!  There's only 2!
When I came home from work, I know there were 3, as I saw 3 beaks sticking up.  But, sometime between 6pm and 8pm, someone left the nest.  I have no idea what happened.  I heard a robin causing a ruckus across the street, and I wonder if a cat got him or if the baby somehow hopped or fluttered his way over there.  I wish I had heard them earlier, but my front door was closed.  I would have tried to catch him and put him back in the nest.
I hope he's OK.
Well, that's life in the wild.

Enuf for now, time for bed.
Geez, this post took me over an hour to do.  No wonder I can't get anything done around here.

I couldn't believe he actually had to ask. Geez, marriage shouldn't be like that.
I bet she made him sell his motorcycle, too.

birdie birdie birdie
Chances are ... the third birdie has flown the nest! Mommy and/or Daddy can spend days trying to coax the youngin's out. Look at the size of 'em! I bet one or both are gone when you arrive home for lunch today :-) Then, watch for your adult robins to be hunting and feeding them in the trees. It's easier to do that at my house, 'cause we don't live in a forest ;-) GREAT PICS, btw~

You're a lucky lady! :-)

I'm not a Grimlock fan, but even I have to admit that's a snazzy figure.

I really wasn't much of a fan until I saw the figure. I really prefer Swoop.
But he is so detailed - gotta love 'em.

I'm a Swoop lover myself. I get ya there. :-)

I can't believe what things are happening to you XD
Either you have one of the most interesting lives ever - or just a really good way to tell everyday stories XD

Oh, now they look like actual birds.
Poor number three, but if the nest is already that crowded with just the two of them inside it, chances are unfortunately high that its siblings kicked it out themselves to have more room and food ^^"
Poor little one.

I'm really pretty boring, but sometimes I can spin a good yarn.

Birdie update coming....

You were really lucky to get Grimlock - and he looks great with his crown.

We bought my nephew Thomas (like my son, he has Asperger Syndrome, but a bit worse than Jason, but he's almost as big a TF fan as I am) an Ani Blitzwing for his birthday last year, but he couldn't work out how to transform him, and neither could any of us adults!

Swoop is cool, especially his personality. Maybe one of the chicks should be named Swoop?!

Our cats are very naughty about catching birds, and the vet told us not to touch any baby birds if at all possible (tho' Mike often has to rescue them!) because the parents will smell your scent on them and reject them.

I love that Grimlock. He's on the bookcase by the TV. He likes the evening news.

OMG! I just opened my Blitzwing and it took me at least 15 minutes to get him to robot mode. I did it wrong the first time and had to reverse my moves. Pretty much anyone I transform into robot mode, stays in robot mode forever.
Hopefully all my baby birds survived. I almost thought Swoop, but since they were siblings, I thought the 'Con babies would be more appropriate.
