Harley

Well, it's a sad day in the M__ household.

Just got back from the vet. Harley is on his final countdown. He had a good 15 year run, but he will soon be gone.

He's got a tumor on his femur, either in the bone or the soft tissue around it, and cannot put any weight on the hind leg anymore. We could do an x-ray to determine bone or tissue, but what is the point? He'd have to be sedated and he's too old.

All we can do is keep him comfortable, which means pain pills twice a day. I have to support his back legs with that harness contraption, or he collapses. There is no point in any surgery either.

So, I need to dig a grave and try to decide how long he can handle the pain. Probably not much longer. I had already made the decision earlier in the year that he would be gone by this winter. Ah, my poor puppy. Life goes on....

[Crossposted from DW. Apparently, I like to spread my boring Spam all over the Internet. And, I paid for both sites, so I should use them like a mad monkey. Comment at either place, I'm easy.]

Oh, so sorry. I know how you are feeling.
I miss them all, too.
It's almost not worth getting a pet, as they die so quick. I don't know how people who have pet rats can take the stress.

My first pet was a Hamster. Red Baron broke my heart, too❣. We will meet them all at the bridge one day, forever with us {{{{{{{mdnytryder}}}}}}}
