Cellphone update and stuff

What a pain and a half.
Received my replacement phone on Saturday.  Procrastinated with following the enclosed instructions to switch it over until Monday morning. (What?  I had to do the contact transfer? Not the Verizon store?  Can't stand the pressure!!!)
Surprisingly, I had no problems using the Backup Assistant and getting the new phone turned on.  Yay, me.  But.

I could not figure out how to get the pda program back on the phone so I could connect the phone to my laptop and therefore use the Internet.  There seemed to be a problem with the username and/or password to gmail and/or google.
I couldn't get into the app store to download the app. Resetting my password did nothing.  It still wouldn't accept a multitude of usernames with the new password.  I was p.o.ed.

I didn't realize how addicted I was to the Internet until I couldn't use my computer for a day.  Sure, I could go online with my phone, but I find it limiting and hard to use.  Plus, I lost all my bookmarks.  All my saved pron.  Gone.  All the TF epic length fics.  Gone.  All my pet sites.  Kaput.
I am working on getting them back, but it is slow going.  Good thing I made a list before I switched.
And, I lost all my apps, and still can't get into the store to get them again.  Even though I only used about 5 apps regularly, the ones I used, I used a lot.  Brightest Flashlight, Got Milk, Talking Tom and Gesture Search to name my favs.  Oh, and I lost my Optimus wallpaper.  Can't get that from the store, either.   I think I'm gonna have to go to the Verizon store to see what's up with my username/password problem.

Anywho -
After much huffing and puffing and high blood pressure readings, I trekked to the library during lunch Tuesday to use their wireless.  I went to the pda.net site and downloaded the same version of the program from scratch.  Followed the instructions and succeeded in getting both the phone and laptop back to normal.  Yays!  I can now feed the monkey on my back.

Not all is doom and gloom and annoying about my 'new' phone.  I was pleasantly surprised to find that my Tformer music ringtone was apparently saved.  Switched that on pretty quickly, as I missed the first call due to not realizing that the phone was ringing.  I couldn't figure out what that noise was!  haha, it was a ringtone.
And, I was ecstatic to find that the Predator click/purr sound I downloaded to the phone 2 years ago (and couldn't figure out how to actually use) was available for my notification sound.  YES! YES! YES!  Backup Assistant to the rescue!
All the aggravation was worth it, just to be able to hear that sound.
You know the one -

Onto other stuff -
My thermometer outside the kitchen window registers 10 degrees.  Brrr.  How long is this cold spell supposed to be lasting?  It's already too long for me.

Just saw this on the news tonight.  Big flood problems happened around the area a couple weeks ago when the temp went up to 50 degrees and it rained.  But, you have got to see what this guy recorded.  Flood water pouring into his basement (around .45 sec)  and then the ceiling falling in (1:20 sec).  OMG, I am flabbergasted.  How awful would this be to go thru?  I can't even imagine.  Those poor people.  All their stuff!  Makes my problems seem insignificant.

Alright, that is all I can handle tonight.  Time for sleepies.

[Crossposted from DW. Apparently, I like to spread my boring Spam all over the Internet. And, I paid for both sites, so I should use them like a mad monkey. Comment at either place, I'm easy.]
