Ice on the deck.

[You know, I haven't been anywhere but ma's house since I got sick at Thanksgiving. I am going crazy, I want to go shopping like you can't believe. It's hard going out because the cold makes me cough even more. We got about 20 inches of snow, with more lake effect predicted. I don't even have my snow tires on - thank goodness for 4-wheel drive. I love my truck. ]

[Crossposted from DW. Apparently, I like to spread my boring Spam all over the Internet. And, I paid for both sites, so I should use them like a mad monkey. Comment at either place, I'm easy.]

Are all of those filigree / viney shapes ice?

Yep, the dark colored stuff is ice. The wood is the whiter color.
I think the wood had a lot of water in the cracks which was forced out into the swirly shapes when frozen.

Yeah, I thought it was interesting.
You gotta keep your peepers peeled to see the little things in nature that are so easy to miss.
