So, I finally had the chance to have a little fun this summer.  I think I've been out on the bike only 4 times.  Just no time.  Major suckage.
Saturday, our Women on Wheels chapter sponsored the Share the Road truck at Hamburg's Burgerfest.
Hamburg is supposedly the birthplace of the hamburger.  Who knows.

The day started out really overcast, but we didn't get rained on until noon-ish.  Then, it poured.
But, the showers didn't last very long.  Sun started coming out around 2pm, just when I had to leave to go watch mom.

Big Dog.  For the Mack truck.

Little Dog.
All I could think of was the Decepticon with the stylized version in the movie.

Share The Road is the safety program sponsored by the American Trucking Association.
There are two trucks and about 40 drivers who travel the country to give seminars and shows.

I love that little sign - 'Trucks Bring It'.

Heartbreaker and I.

I was trying to get artsy-fartsy.

There was a car show going on down the street.
These two looked like bugs to me.

  This one's a cicada!

'Cuda.  Man I love these.  I need to find a man who has one.

Cool purple flames.  I would have liked to hear this engine running.

All in all, I had a fun time.  I wish I could have stayed all day.
The only stuff I bought was food and 2 catnip filled logs for the kitties.

I am disappointed in our group participation, though.  Only one other woman showed up after Betty & I left.  I am getting sick & tired of member non-participation in these chapter sponsored events.  I think I'm going to say something at the next meeting.  I can understand if there are family obligations or if someone is sick.  But, I am pretty sure a group went down to Erie, Pa for a biker event that day.  No excuse - Burgerfest was planned months ago.  That should take precedence over a spontaneous ride.  And, this isn't the first time this has happened.
We are considering planning a girl's only bike run next year.  If this is the kind of group participation we will have...well, as Chapter Director, my feelings are:  if you don't want to participate and support the chapter events - just don't even bother joining the organization and coming to the meetings.  You are wasting my time.
Can you tell I'm pretty ticked off?

On another note,
I really do not care for the look of the LJ posting page.
And, I really, really, really hate the new Yahoo mail.  I finally was forced to switch to the new basic from the old version.  It wouldn't let me sign in unless I did.  And boy, did I try everything to avoid change.  I hate the look, I hate how the delete works, I hate the support (which doesn't help, at all).  bitch, bitch, bitch.
I hate change.  I'm too old and set in my ways.  But, I'd hate switching and trying to learn another email...what do you call it - provider?  Service?  Whatever.

Alright, I hope I can get back into the posting groove.   Work is finally slowing down, things had been so busy and backed up.  I can't remember a time that we were so far behind in reports.  And, I can't believe that the summer is half over.  So busy I missed June, it flew by faster than a ray of light.
My brother is rolling into town Thursday.  Thursday!  Thank goodness no one is staying with me.  They'd have to sleep in the garage.  My house is still a total mess.  I kind of don't care.

TFcon on Friday!  You can't believe how excited I am to go.  I gotta get out of this place.  I need a vacation, as pathetic as a 2 day vacation is.
And, I am surprised that my sister is going to let me leave early on Friday.  I think, around noon, so I miss the heavy bridge traffic.  I've got to start making my packing lists.
So much to do before I go.
So much excite.

So good to see your voice! :-)

Love the pictures, especially the one of you and your wheels. My town is having a classic car show this Saturday. I'll be thinking of you!

Have so much fun at TFcon! I hope you can post pics from it. I live vicariously through you when it comes to the conventions. LOL

Big Dog is epic! I want one for the front yard!

Your hubcap portrait is awesome.

Yeah, what is up with Yahoo? I tried to find a way to 'click all' so I could delete several pages of old junk messages and I have to do it one at a time? That can't be right.

Heh, those two cars do look like bugs.

Sorry participation was low for your event, but I'm glad you had a good day and the cats got catnip out of it! :D
