Well, the day started out pretty okay, but it seemed to go downhill this evening.
I burned my shrimp, scallop and noodle dinner. Nothing worse than burned noodles. Gah.
And, I needed something to hang my hummingbird feeder. Found a wire hanger in the basement and, as I was trying to cut it with metal shears, I slammed my finger between the handles. Holy slag - did that hurt. I can still barely type. I wonder what colors my finger will turn tomorrow.
At least my day was better than this guy's -

I have no idea how that mouse got caught there. that pallet is heavy. The top half is gone now. I presume someone ate it.
And, something ate my baby robins - AGAIN!
I'm not even going to show you the pics I took, I am so disgusted. The nest was on the ledge above the door inside my shed. There are boxes of crap piled next to the door and it would have been easy for a cat to climb up and knock the nest off the ledge. All I found were a few downy feathers and the nest on the ground.

I made more work for myself by buying some flowers from the nursery today.
This is my garden now. Pathetic, I know. But, I am slowly working on it.

Here's my tray - thirteen, four inch pots of stuff. Two coleus, three strawflower, two yellow things, two tall purple things that bees and hummingbirds like, one dianthus, and some more stuff of which I don't know the names.

I probably won't be able to plant until, maybe Wednesday. It poured last night so the ground is soaked. In fact, water leaked in my basement through that crack in the wall again. I tried to fix it a few years ago, but apparently I didn't do it correctly. Or the crack has increased. Piss me off. I really don't know what to do about it.

For some reason, I have been noticing how pretty ordinary things are lately.
Normal soap bubbles in my dishbasin.

And those same bubbles solarized.

Solarized lava lamp. Just 'cause it looks cool.

Let's see, what else.
Ma is doing okay. The swelling in her leg is down, and, instead of taking her to the doctor every week to check her Coumadin level, we can wait two weeks now. Good thing, carting her to the doc once a week was getting really tedious. It was hard on her and on us. You should see the big bags under my eyes. The doc hopes to have her off the drug by the middle of July.

My brother lives just northeast of Oklahoma City. Those tornadoes came within four miles of his house one day, but they are fine. I keep asking him when they are going to move back up here where it's safe!
They will be visiting at the end of July - just in time for TFcon. haha - My bro is considering driving up with me that weekend and checking out Toronto with the wife. I guess she's never been to TO. I wish I could take a week vacation to play around up there.
I registered for both days of the con - yeah, me being optimistic again. We'll see.

Ratchet has been doing well. He's eating that special food, in fact, both of them are getting it now. Although Ratch doesn't like the wet stuff. He's lost quite a bit of weight. Blue has gained because he's been eating the leftover food from Ratchet's dish. He's so heavy, it's like picking up a cement brick.

Can't think of anything else exciting - my life is pretty boring. Guess it's time for bed.

Oh, this is to show lionelle my cockatrice on the BeastKeeper pet site.

So cool.

[Crossposted from DW. Apparently, I like to spread my boring Spam all over the Internet. And, I paid for both sites, so I should use them like a mad monkey. Comment at either place, I'm easy.]

So sorry about your finger! Yikes! And your noodles. And your poor baby robins.

Your garden is fabulous, I like gardens that have clearly defined borders like that. Looks like you have lots of room, too!

That's such a pretty happy mix of flowers! Strawflowers! I remember those, so fun, with their papery petals.

Interesting pic with the bubbles, they're so honeycombed.

Lava lamp! Groovy.

The cockatrice is awesome, he looks very detailed, and ready for battle, ha.

I wonder why your post is stamped 8:22 but didn't show up on my flist til nearly midnight. Lj....

Nice to see your voice again!

Good to hear Ma, the furkids, and the family are doing good.

Make sure you post pics of your garden when it's done. I like your selection of flowers. Colorful!

That's a beautiful lava lamp. More like actual lava then those spheres of goo I usually see in lamps.
