BotCon Pics 6/1/11

OK, instead of doing work today at work, I edited some of my pics.

Drove my Chevy to the levee but the levee was...damp?
Flying into LAX.  I've never seen such a huge city, being the country bumpkin that I am.

Look at the car model they gave me.
I thought that was pretty funny.

Driving around I was intrigued with the grasshopper pumps.

First stop after picking up the car was the Griffith Observatory.
You guys recognize it, right?
I had to walk all the way up that hill to get there.  It was at least 5 miles.

No, just kidding.  It felt like I walked 5 miles.
Halfway there....

I have no idea what kind of flowering bush this was, but it smelled heavenly.
I couldn't get any closer or I would have fallen off the cliff.

Front view.
Squee - Bee parked right there!

They had a bust of James Dean, and if you squint, the Hollywood sign is just to the left of the cell tower.

Looking down from the front steps.

Front door.  Very intimidating.

There were all sorts of astronomy exhibits inside, but I only took one pic.
I wonder if Superman knows about this.

I liked this shot.

Better view of the famous sign.
I was trying to be artistic by putting the foilage in the foreground.  Hmm, didn't really work.

Ooh, big city.

The view was spectacular. My pics don't do it justice.

Hiked back down to the car (huff puff) and decided I couldn't do anymore.
Plugged the hotel address into the GPS and off I went.
Here's the room before we messed it up.
Look at the size of it - it's HUGE!

We lucked out because the 3rd floor had the large rooms.

I relaxed a bit, then took off to Walmart to buy food and supplies.
Fell into bed around 10:30pm, as it felt like 1:30am to me.
I survived day one.

Yep, seems like everyone made it home OK. What an awesome vacation.
It was on my tourist-visit list. More pics to come of the rest of the places I went.

Good thing the room was that big - we had a lot of stuff!
I would stay there again.

You did quite a bit on your trip! I would love to visit an observatory someday.

Great meeting you!

Working on more pics to post.
I really wanted to see THAT observatory.
I stood on the same spot that Jazz did in the movie! *has hard time separating reality from fiction*

Ditto - you are so cool. And I showed some friends my earrings and they were mightily impressed you made them.

Awesome! I love looking at pictures of places I've never been to which give an idea of what they're like, and these are really good!!
