Size Matters?

"Loud pipes save lives!"
How often have you heard that phrase?  I have heard arguments for and against noise since I can remember.
Who knows if it is really true or not, as when you are riding, the sound is behind you.
From my own, little, non-scientific survey, I have heard that if you don't ride, chances are you hate straight pipes.  If you ride a HD, you either love the noise, or have no problem with other people having them.   If you know someone who has straight pipes, you probably like them.  (Especially if it is a spouse - it gives you a warning that they are coming home and you better not be doing anything naughty!) (I could hear my husband coming at least a mile away.)   If you hate HD's, you hate loud pipes.  If you ride any of the other brands, opinion seems to be split, I think by folks who would like to own a HD having positive thoughts, and folks who like their brand, in the negative.  But, that is just my opinion...and you know what they say about opinions!

Personally, I love the sound of straight pipes, I think they are sexy and the sound makes my heart race and I will always look around for the bike.  I like to think that anything that draws attention to a biker is a good thing.

I have modified pipes on my bike, there is a muffler, but they are loud and you can hear me coming down the street.
But my point is - I stole this article from the motorcycle community.

I never heard of the Dukes of Hazzard Effect.  I thought the article was worth a laugh, but is more applicable to cars rather than MC's.
