If what Hillary said was true – it takes a village to raise a child – then I should have been able to smack that kid running around the store like a maniac without getting sued. Right? Right?

Don’t worry, I didn’t smack ‘em…but I wanted to.

That's pretty much the funniest thing I've read all weekend ^_^

Makes me think of the time some parents brought their 7 y/o daughter in for me to draw her blood. I never even got close to the kid and she was screaming blue murder. Neither parent said or did anything to take control of the situation. After about 10 minutes of that, they decided to leave. I said I'd store the order, for when they came back. "Oh, we WON'T be coming back HERE", said the mother, like everything was my fault. I thought, hmmm, you're a spoiled high-maintenance bitch, and that's exactly what you raised...

Sorry, went off on a tangent there...

Ha, yes it's funny now in retrospect, but at the time it really ticked me off. And you see kids running wild over stores all the time. Little monsters.
People just don't raise kids the same anymore. My mom would have wacked me a good one if I acted up like that.

That was pretty inexcusable for a 7 yo. Spoiled, prissy, baby. I would have probably said to get out and come back when she grows up...and gotten fired! I have no patience with kids, at all.

I console myself with thinking how they will have such culture shock when they get out into the real world and no one cares.

My mom was the same as yours. But from a very early age, we NEVER misbehaved in public. Because she always carried through on her warnings, if we kept acting out.

I'm not a kid person either...which is why I never had any!

Obviously, you are a well bred, thoughtful person with manners!

I never wanted kids at all, I'm too selfish. I just lucked out that none of my husbands ever wanted them either.
...but they sure would come in handy for stacking wood right now....
