Turkeys

I was outside the other day and saw some turkeys pushing and shoving in a play for dominance. It was pretty cool; I had never come across this IRL before. Just seen it on TV.
I recorded a bit on my phone. It's not that great because I can't zoom and I didn't want to get much closer. They are pretty tolerant of us walking around, but I had the dog on a leash with me. Sorry for the extra noise - it was a bit windy and Harley was sniffing around the downspout for the chipmunk who lives in there.
They were probably messing around for about 4 minutes.
If you listen closely, you can hear them chirring and some clucking until two of them grab each other's beaks. Everybody seemed to calm down shortly thereafter, so I stopped filming.

And, in the same turkey theme, next morning I was walking the dog and I heard the turkeys fussing. I thought it might be another dom display. Well, it was a coyote trotting across the field, trying halfheartedly to catch a straggler. He/she chased most of the birds up into the trees, then he plopped in the snow to wait. I tried moving up closer for a better pic, but once I got to the evergreens he jumped up and moved off into the woods.
Pretty cool, I haven't seen a coyote in a couple years. Heard them last fall in the big woods, but they are pretty skittish around people.

Those birds are around three feet tall, if you're wondering.

[Crossposted from DW. Apparently, I like to spread my boring Spam all over the Internet. And, I paid for both sites, so I should use them like a mad monkey. Comment at either place, I'm easy.]
