Give yourself some sponge candy if you figured it out.

Barb found this antler in the orchard some time ago and gave it to me. It's been on the floor of my truck for at least a couple months.
I have a few pairs and singles, but have never personally found a shed. I'm too lazy to go out in the woods in January to check.
I wish we had found the mate, it's so cute. Must have been from an old guy or a young buck that will become a monster one day. The chips show that he was fighting.

The end piece is quite fascinating, very smooth. It looks like bone. If you have ever seen a cut soup bone, you know what I mean. And, if you look close, you can see little bits of hair.

I like to share stuff like this with people. Nature is cool.

[Crossposted from DW. Apparently, I like to spread my boring Spam all over the Internet. And, I paid for both sites, so I should use them like a mad monkey. Comment at either place, I'm easy.]

now that is INTERESTING!

I wish I had one - or a pair.
(then again, got some cool stuff from beach at home. Just need to remember to take photo, upload image and share. After recalling where Kite (sea slug) Shell , and other stuff went)

Nature is NOT boring, or spam.
It is cool, and wonderful, and magnificent - just look at all the natural wonders around us. (minus trash and pollution, but sometimes, even landfills are full of treasures and troves that can only be imagined).
Dragon's lair anybody? Modern, not-so-picky, and hungry-but-not-for-human-flesh, dragon-that-sometimes-smokes-or-steams-instead-of-breathing-fire-and-can't-always-fly-but-turns-invisible-to-hide.

Lovely find.
Even better cross section.

Glad you think so. thanks.

I've seen antlers for sale on ebay and also antique shops. Kind of expensive, but oh, so neat on the wall or shelf.

I do like beach treasures, too. I live very close to Lake Erie and when I hit the beach, I always take a bag for wood and shells and rocks to bring home.
