Life goes on

Ah, yes. I am still around, trying to read posts but not being very good at commenting on them.

Things are very busy because my brother came into town. He's leaving tomorrow, and I don't want him to go.
Of course, something always breaks when he's here. This time, it was the lift pump in the basement. For those of you who don't know what a lift pump is, it's similar to a sump pump, except it is supposed to lift the sewage up to the main sewer pipe leading to the septic tank. Can you see where this is going? Uckies. The pump is supposed to automatically turn on after every 2 or 3 flushes.
My nephew stayed with me, and young men apparently have enormous turds. He plugged the pump, and I didn't really notice that it wasn't...lifting. He called me down to the basement last week to tell me that sewage was backing up into the bathtub. Oh. My. Gawd. It was so nasty.
Had to call the plumber, and he did manage to get the pump working again. He was surprised that it lasted as long as it did (20 years since we built the house), and he suggested replacing it. My bro concurred, and he even paid for the replacement. And, it wasn't cheap, let me tell you. I was very pleased with the plumber - they even cleaned the bathtub out for me. (I will spray everything down with Clorox once everyone leaves, though.)
Since the plumber was there, I also asked about a couple problems that have been plaguing me for a few months. I need to get a new toilet upstairs, since my well water is so full of minerals that it has plugged the holes and some tube-thingy that enables decent flushing. I will get that done in a couple weeks. Plus - they gave me a $100 coupon for future service!
It's always something.

My nephew wanted to take me to a movie as a thank you for selling him a muscle car engine that Rick had bought. Made me sad, but I guess I have to face the fact that I will never find another gear head. And, I couldn't do anything with it myself - I have a hard enough time trying to take care of my bike. I will probably sell him the Triumph in the basement one of these years, too. So, my dreams of owning a muscle car will drive off towards Oklahoma tomorrow morning. *sniff*
Anyway,
we went to see the new Spiderman movie. I did enjoy it, but I think the one with Toby was better. I was disappointed that they didn't use the famous 'power/responsibility' quote. And, they never said 'your favorite, neighborhood Spiderman' either. Too much emphasis on spiders in the lab - gross. It creeped me out. The lizard was interesting. I rate it a "7".

And, on the subject of spiders -
you know I really hate them, right?
So, why have I allowed an orb weaver to live on my front door all summer? I don't know, I just got used to him being there. When I first saw him, he was only a half inch long and fairly cute. Now, he's a bit over two inches and he's big enough to give me the willies.

I really don't want to kill him, I'm gonna scoop him up on a broom and put him in the woods.
Yes, I'm weird.

On to cuter stuff -
have you seen the new Kreos? Found them at ToysRUs - $10 for a kit.
Barricade, Knockout and Vehicons! Or are they Eradicons? A couple have wings and I get confused.

And, Wheeljack, Cliffjumper and Autobot troopers.

I saw Vortex and Devastator (who has Ironhide) but the Big D was $90! Too expensive for me, I'll try to get 'Hide on ebay.

Hmm, what else have I been doing. Not much.
Rode with my bro in a pack of 588 bikes (yes, I counted them) to escort the Traveling Wall into Eden. It was really cool. My nephew recorded the entire 16 minute procession. I tried to upload it to youtube once, but my connection failed. I will try again sometime and post it here. When I find time, that is.

Right now, TFcon in the big TO on Sunday is a go. I hope didn't just jinx myself. My best buddy Betty is going to drive up with me because she has nothing better to do. It should be interesting. We'll leave around 5am, and should be back home by 10pm. I just want to get out and go somewhere away from here.

That's about it for now. I'm tired and have to hit the hay.

[Crossposted from DW. Apparently, I like to spread my boring Spam all over the Internet. And, I paid for both sites, so I should use them like a mad monkey. Comment at either place, I'm easy.]

This was my first time, and it was nice. Smaller than Botcon and not as intimidating.

The Steves!! Just incase you don't know, the Vehi/Eradicons were nicknamed "Steve". I think an animated .gif was the start of it. The Steves have a special place in my heart. I just may have to slap down $10 for the Decepticon kit. I did finally get the Screamer Kre-O in the Lego kit. They are so adorable! Screamer has that perfect smirk. The G1 Megatron Kre-O is well done also.

If I recall from watching TF:P, some Steves have flight and some wheels. Bless the Steves.

That is a beautiful spider. Thanks for not killing him/her. :-)

The escort sounds very neat. I will have to look up the Travelling Wall. I have no clue what that is.

Have fun at the con! I want to hear all about it.

Yes! I love the Steves!
I still think they should sell the Kreons separately. IMO, most of the expressions on the Kreons are very well done.

Spider is moved. He made a web on Sat that went across the whole door and down to the deck. I had to break it to get out of the house. I think he was trying to keep me prisoner.

Haven't had time to upload the video yet. I think it's this one, but there may be a couple tribute walls around.
